In celebration of World Sickle Cell Awareness Day 2024, Project Hope was launched under the theme “Hope Through Progress: Advancing Sickle Cell Care Globally.” In collaboration with the Lagos State Sickle Cell Society, The Heart Menders Foundation, and Health Volunteers Nigeria Initiative, this project targeted the Oshipitan community in Bariga, Lagos State. Project Hope raised grassroots awareness of the prevention and management of sickle cell disease through free genotype testing, medication distribution for sickle cell patients, and educational sessions. The goal was to empower the community with essential knowledge and care, promoting proactive health measures to prevent the disease.
